Saturday 22nd March
Today
Macclesfield come to town, guided by David Moss, The Silkmen took
all the points last season, that though coming in a midweek match as we
all know, This time around though Oxford are expected to take the points,
Alan Judge will most certainly be in goal for the U's as they step up
there push to stay in the play off area,
Jefferson Louis, lee Steele or Manny Omoyinmi will be in the front line,
or even all 3 of them.
My estimated attendance;- 6,980.
Friday 21st March 2003
Last night the Quiz night organized by supporters group Ox Vox was a very
successful evening,
Sorry to say that the Team representing this website didn't do
brilliantly, but a great time was had, with some very
strange and hilarious answers coming from our table, The Oxford mail team
unsurprisingly won the quiz, with their
vast knowledge of the sporting world they were sure to win, they got 97
out of 100 questions right, an amazing amount,
There was a little dig at their team when they used their Joker for the
round of questions involving Oxford United,
"One feels that they have chosen the wrong round to play their joker, with
their Knowledge (or lack of) of the team",
there were giggles all round, but it was all in good sted.
11 teams of 4 people entered the quiz, at £2 per head and at the end of
the evening a raffle was held to raise funds for
the Guilain Barre Foundation, £98 was made from the raffle, plus a
Football signed by all the Oxford players was
auctioned off for £110, won by one of the Girls in the corner, the auction
was taken out of the auctioneers hands, when
a gentleman at the bar seemed to take it into his own hands to tell
everyone what they were bidding for and how much it will be worth when we
have been promoted at the end of the season, at one point he was going to
pay £105 to give the ball away, before telling the lady that eventually
won, that if she bid £110 then she could have the ball, funny guy.
One of the funniest answers of the evening was for the question;- who is
the patron saint of the city of Oxford?,
our team put FIROZ KASSAM, but infact it was Friedswide, the next one came
from myself, I then answered
the question about a Sri Lankan cricketer father-He was a sweet shop
owner, because his name was a mouthful............
During the Half time interval last night, Sandwiches were brought out for
each table, they were donated by the Football Club and were very well
received, Thank you to the club for those, they were great.
So another £208 raised for Jamie Brooks's illness foundation, from an
evening enjoyed by all the competitors.
Oxford
Mail crew winners
Jon Murray, Russell Smith, Mark Edwards and Tony Moore.

Auction Winner
Oh and United we stand won a prize.........................the
booby prize.......the exit was a long way away......hehehehe.
Oxford could have old favourite, Phil Whitehead back at the club on loan
while Keeper Andy Woodman recovers,
Alan Judge may or not play on Saturday, but he will not be able to play on
Tuesday at Bury, due to the sad loss of his Mother, Condolences go out to
Judgy during his sad time for him and his family.
Whitehead may return for a month, depending on whether the club can meet
his wage demands.

Tonight see's teams of 4 competing in a Quiz night to raise money for
Guillaine Barre Syndrome, The illness that
struck Jamie Brooks at the end of last season, lets hope the evening goes
well and that this website doesn't come last.
As if.....................................
Wednesday 19th March 2003
The goal keeping crisis continued as Simon Cox was taken off injured
during the reserves 4-1 win at Court Place Farm
against Northampton res, leaving just Alan Judge as the only fit keeper at
the club, this time though Rob Lovegrove
went between the sticks, Dexter Blackstock got a hat trick with Simon King
getting the other goal for the U's.
A great performance from Legend Alan Judge in goal for the U's last night,
drawing 1-1 with Cambridge,
Judge becoming the oldest player ever to play for the U's at 42 years old.
Falling behind again at home with the Hoodoo hovering over the ground
after 59 minutes,
the U's battled back into the game with an equalizer 6 minutes later from
Jefferson Louis, he latched onto a bouncing through ball and looped the
ball with his head over the advancing keeper, The U's could have easily
won the game from then on.
In the first half Lee Steele missed chance after chance, At one stage he
took the ball through on his own and
instead of taking the ball another 5 yards, tried to shoot and scuffed the
ball, then again minutes later, he broke through
and scuffed his shot, the ball rebounded back out and he snapped at the
ball, shooting well wide of the goal.
But the hero of the night saved well in the last few minutes to make sure
that we atleast took a point out of the game.
Judge takes a kick
Hands up who isn't a goalie? Woody puts on a
brave face
Buildbase Director with Legend Dave Langan and Firoz Kassam.
Another Legend was at the Kassam stadium last night too, Dave Langan was
guest of Sponsors Buildbase,
I met the lengendary full back in the press area before the game, then
again on the pitch just before kick off,
He looked better than the last time I met him, at the Milk Cup reunion
game at the Manor, he was unable to walk
without the aid of sticks then, last night he could walked unaided, it was
great to see him and meet him again,
A BIG Thank you to Buildbase for bringing the him to the Kassam for the
day and reliving the memories for all of us that remember him playing in
the 80's for the U's.

Waterman Scores 1-0

Woody gets injured Sorry I

Our New Goalie
U's fans after the game.
After the game I saw a sight that really brought home what a great win it
was, whilst stand by the players coach
chatting with the players while they waited for Ian Atkins to board, Nigel
Jemson pulled up in his car and congratulated
the U's players on their win, He also said that he hoped Woody was going
to be ok, also that he would be in touch to
check on his progress in the week, forget all the arrogance that come on
the football field, Nigel Jemson is a true professional, He was gracious
in defeat and showed his true sporting side after the game, at the end of
the day
we had got a great result, but there was only one concern, for Woody, on
hearing that he was going to be ok, everyone dispersed home, a great 3
points and a great team performance in the bag, We had finally beaten a
team containing
Jemmo, let the Hoodoo at the Kassam Stadium be blown away in the same
circumstances, by beating Paul Wanless's
Cambridge on Tuesday in the Varsity Derby.......................If we lose
we will blame my brother Liam, well it will be his birthday that day and
we have never lost on his
birthday..............................................YET.
Roll on Tuesday anyway, we will be in the presence of a true great, David
Langan will be the special guest of Sponsors
BUILDBASE, he will be in their box for the match and may even venture out
onto the pitch, come on, we must win.
Now here is a Picture for you, I would like you to email me with all your
captions for this picture,
It is of Physio Neil Sullivan, Bobby Ford and the Referee at Hull City's
Kingston Communications Stadium on Saturday,

Below are a few pictures of the ground at Hull, plus firstly the pub in
the centre of Hull we stopped in on our way there.

Malcolm Shotton is still a legend
in his own rights, I spoke to him briefly, shaking his hand,
he seemed
happy enough, even when I said that I was from Oxford, He then went off
onto the pitch where he was one of the special guest at the match at Hull

Below are some pictures from Saturday evening where Jamie Brooks raised
£8,750 for the Guillaine Barre Syndrome
foundation, a remarkable amount of money, but then again, Jamie is a
remarkable lad,
Congratulations to him and his family who worked so hard to make all of
the evening possible,
Also to Jackie Jordan who organised the event, you may take a huge bow, it
was a successful evening.
