Sunday 11th May 2003
So we will be playing at Doncaster Rovers next season after they beat
Dagenham and Redbridge 3-2 at the
Britannia Stadium, Stoke yesterday, The day was marred by the Doncaster
fans, who continued to Invade the field
after every goal, even had 2 male streekers which didn't go down well, Now
had they been Female.........(Flash),
Doncaster went 2-0 up, with Dave Morley getting the 2nd goal, but a
spirited fight back by the Daggers, spurred on by
20 Oxford United season ticket holders, they brought the game back to 2-2,
taking the game to sudden death extra time,
The game got more tense as it went on, we personally had nothing to lose
or gain, but we still felt for the Daggers team
when Donny scored the winner in the 2nd half of extra time, shame to lose
out that way after the way they were shafted
last season by Boston, but hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky for the
Daggers and their loyal followers who were superb
in the Away end seating behind the goal, they never roes to the level of
the Donny fans and were a credit to their team.
Congratulations goes to Dave Penney and Dave Morley who are back in league
football, commiserations to Mark Stein
who also played well getting a goal, but missed out, better luck next
year.

Off to the Britannia Stadium, Stoke in the morning, On Sunday i will do a
review of the season, including Pictures,
If there are any Pictures that you would like to see from certain games,
don't hesitate to ask.
So Oxford's player who has made the most appearances is Bobby Ford, Now
that Paul Powell has been released
by the club, Ian McCaldon has also been released, neither of them will get
a new contract, the same could be said for around another 5 players by the
end of next week, Firoz Kassam wants to get the contracts sorted early on,
rather than last season when they were drawn out until mid July and messed
up most of the pre-season.Ian
Atkins will be featuring in a charity game at Shrewsbury on Sunday
morning, playing in an all stars team against Harchester from Sky One's
Dream Team, kick off will be at 11am, so all those that can get up early
enough are
welcome to go along and raise money for a good cause.
Thursday 8th May 2003
I will be amongst quite a few Oxford fans on Saturday, we are going to
watch the Conference Play off final
at Stoke City's Britannia Stadium, we are obviously going in the
Dagenham end, especially after Doncaster
knocked out Chester on Monday, we hope that Dagenham will win, especially
because of the fact that they are
a southern team, it will be one less game to travel north for, plus it
will be a day out in the capital.
Shame to see Big Eagle, Ian McCaldon going back to Scotland, he hasn't
featured all season though,
Only 3 times for Chester City whilst on loan, Will be sad to see him go,
he is a nice fella and a great laugh.
Tuesday 6th May 2003
Yesterday I went to Chester to see the Play off semi Final between Chester
and Doncaster,
Chester were unlucky not to win, losing 4-3 on Penalties after 30 minutes
of extra time.
Scott Guyett got Chester's Player of the Season, so it was a good day out
for us.
Pictures with no links need to be saved to see the large size.

Two years have gone Big Guy, Though it only seems like yesterday,
You were tragically taken from us, just after we
left the Manor,
How fitting we should play this important game, Today the 3rd
of May,
We need your witty humour and a loud Give us an O’ooo to make us win
Today,
We all know you are at the Kassam Stadium, Your final
resting Place,
But most of all we would all give anything, Just to see your smiling
face.
Always in our thoughts Nappy

That is the message that will be on Flowers laid behind the goal before
the match today at the Kastad.
This site has been a first for a lot of things, Nothing more special than
this though, Below is the Plaque that I have
had made on behalf of the Andrew Knapton Memorial fund, it will go up in
the Oxford Mail Stand Concourse,
Next season it will be on view, This is the earliest time that we have
been able to put it up, it is hard to take a picture
of the plaque because it is so shiny, but here it is.

Myself and Dermot at the Kassam Stadium for the Senior Cup Final

Had a wonderful evening at the Kassam stadium, All the awards
were thoroughly deserved,
Dave Waterman was voted Players Player of the Season, Andy Crosby won the
Sports writers player of the season
and Dean Whitehead was Young Player of the Season.
Dave Waterman's award was a very special and deserved one,
It was quite emotional to hear Ian Atkins talk about the ex
Portsmouth midfielder and the troubles he has had
over the last year, but for Dave to stand there and personally thank
everyone for there great support through what
has been and unbearable times was very touching.

Player) at Last nights Awards Evening.

Myself and Dave with his award, The Players Player of the season award was
well and truly deserved for Dave,
He has been through so much this year, I have spoken to Dave a lot this
season and he is so overwhelmed with the support for him from the players
and the fans this year, I can't thank you all enough he said.
I was told by the steward to get my kit ready by the goal, "when the final
whistle goes you will have to run, the fans are coming on the pitch", I
was thinking, what the Oxford fans......GREAT, she meant the Iron's fans,
so I packed up my kit and waited with the camera at the ready, but my
running shoes were not required in the end, Scunthorpe fans never made it
past the halfway line, because that was where the queue for the pub was,
the Horse and Hound wasn't it.!!!!
The last time I saw horses and dogs together on grass, was in the film
BABE, how fitting that there were loads of PIGS their to spoil the day.

Only Fools and Horses..............On the pitch

U's fans who were great, no matter what Atkins said.
