free online games Sunday 2nd May 2004 Another season over, another season of what should have been good fortune reduced to misery, another away trip for the loyal band of U's fans who were superb again at Macclesfield but left the North West with great disappointment and angered by the way the team has fallen apart, from top of the league at the turn of the year the season is over with yet one game to go, I wonder just how many are going to go to that match at the Kassam Stadium next Saturday when Rochdale are the visitors to Oxford, hopefully Oxford will get 3 goals against them too, but all for Oxford and not 2 for them and 1 for us. I think we have seen the last of a few players, no names, but there might be wholesale changes for the last game, those that won't be staying probably won't feature. More Pictures will appear later after I have taken my son to Football , hope that is a better game. ![]() Friday 30th April 2004 Andy Crosby will be out serving his 1 match suspension tomorrow at Moss Rose, Matt Bound and Paul McCarthy are likely to play in the centre of defence, get to Macclesfield tomorrow and support the U's in their final push for the playoffs, tomorrow is win or bust. The open meeting at the Kassam Stadium with Firoz Kassam and Graham Rix is sure to be an eye opener, 615 is the starting time, all are welcome and it will be taking place in the Quadrangle bar downstairs as there is a boxing night upstairs. Oxford' youngsters were beaten by one goal to nil last night at the Kassam stadium but can hold their heads up as they played very well, just poor finishing from both team stopped the game being a higher scoring game, both keepers made some great saves in the first half, especially the U's keeper, But Brockies Banbury held on to cap a memorable night for all their fans that turned out to see them, there was a lot too and they were very noisy. Thursday 29th April 2004 Tonight sees Oxford take part in their first final of the Oxfordshire senior cup at the Kassam Stadium, Banbury United are the opponents led by former Oxford favourite Kevin brock, So expect them to be fired up, the U's will probably field a very young team as most of the youth team have never played at the Kassam stadium and it will be a great experience for them. Don't forget tomorrow's meeting at the Kassam stadium with Kassam and Rix, it's sure to be an ear splitting event with many a fan wanting to vent their anger on the way Oxford have fell away from the promotion spot this season, it is an early start 6.15pm but it has to start that early because of the Boxing that is on during the same evening their and all from the open meeting will need to be out by 8.30pm to allow that too take place. Tuesday 27th April 2004 Oxford reserves last night gave new Bristol Rovers manager Ian Atkins a taste of things to come when they beat Rovers reserves 5-3 at Court Place Farm, A hatrick from triallist Danny Morgan from Wimbledon and one from both Barry Quinn and Julian Alsop won the game for the U's, though both teams had a hatrick player, Oxford had 3 on trial from the MK Dons. Monday 26th April 2004 Firoz Kassam announced this evening that he is too hold a fans forum on Friday night at the Kassam Stadium, Graham Rix will also be in attendance so that the fans can grill them both at the way the club had spiralled down the 3rd division since New years day, though Rix only has 7 of those games to answer for, the meeting will start at 6.15pm and go on to approximately 8.15pm, all supporters are welcome, get there early as it is likely to be quite an evening. So all eyes next weekend will be on whether Huddersfield can beat Mansfield, Bury can win at Northampton an to see if Hull can win at Yeovil, but then if that all happens we have to win at Macclesfield, between now and then though we have the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final at the Kassam stadium on Thursday night, so make sure you pop along and see us win something this season. Saturday 24th April 2004 Oxford's chances of making the play offs took a major dent yet again today when they could only draw with Cambridge in the varsity derby 2-2, after going down to start with they battled back level before going in front for the first time, but it was literally a few minutes before the scores were level again and with Yeovil and Northampton both winning 2-0 the U's now have to win both their remaining games and hope that they both lose one or both. Some shocking defending was again the downfall of the U's, the Oxford U's that is, plus the aid of the officials again after Manny Omoyinmi playing his first game of the year took a quick throw to James Hunt, hunt was elbowed in the face and then the other U's ran up the field and scored...whilst the Oxford U's complained about the offence, both team though had their chances to finish the game off, but this result looks like it has condemned Oxford and its fans to Division 3 grounds again next term. How bloody wonderful. Friday 23rd April 2004 Oxford go into the penultimate home game of the season with a few injury worries, Steve Basham is still a worry and Jon Ashton missed last Saturday's defeat at Darlington , pulling out of the team just before the kick off and was replaced by Matt Bound who did very well, should Ashton be fit I would keep bound in the team and replace Paul McCarthy. Many Omoyinmi could start his first Oxford game this year after he was recalled from Gravesend and Northfleet earlier in the week. Wednesday 21st April 2004 Oxford today signed Graham Rix as Manager on a 2 year contract, Paid off Ian Atkins and looked forward to the possibility of Division 3 Football at the Kassam Stadium again for the 4th season on a trot after the previous evenings results. After not getting a win in his first 6 games Rix now has just 3 games to try and regain a bit of pride for the loyal fans who have stuck by the club through thick and thin this season and every other season come to that, anything other than 3 wins will result in Division 3 football next season, even 3 wins might result in that, but unless you try you don't get anywhere. Oxford reserves lost 2-0 this afternoon against Bournemouth, the weather conditions were awful with torrential rain and the U's went down to a very early goal after just 2 mins and a 2nd half penalty. Oxford slipped out of the play off zone last night after Yeovil beat York City to take up the last spot, Northampton lost at Home to Huddersfield, so that was a relief, The U's now have to win all their remaining games now to stand any chance of making the playoffs and hope that Yeovil slip up. So just how many are going to boycott the match on Saturday, Season ticket holders won't as they have already paid for their tickets, but then if they are stupid enough to the club will see that hundreds of season ticket holders have boycotted because it will show in the returned stubs that they never turned up, I can see the point of it all, that we were so high up the league on new years day and now promotion looks unlikely-but is it really going to encourage the players to give one final push to make the playoffs...? Is it going to encourage anyone to spend £60 million to take over the club..? Tuesday 20th April 2004 On the Anniversary of our famous triumph in the Milk Cup at Wembley Oxford have recalled Manny Omoyinmi from Gravesend and Graham Rix thinks he has done well enough to push his way into the team, Manny has been out on loan most of this year and will relish the chance to start for the U's.
