Still no news on why Ramon Diaz and Horacio Rodriguez were not  at either sCUNThorpe or the Orient match, the players are also reportedly asking questions about the future of the club as we go into the last 5 weeks of the current season.
However OUFC River Plate take on Team Orange in the Wheatley  5 a side league tonight, with the Kick off at 9.20pm!!!!!! and are hoping to bounce back after defeat last week.

Pictures from the Orient game are on  this link

Oxford had fans from across the other side of the world at the Orient game on Bank Holiday Monday, The Mallett family were out in full force for the day, Timmy Mallett and his son Billy were joined by relatives from Australia that are over for their Hols, they are also hoping to take in the Macclesfield game at the Kastad next Wednesday before going home, I met up with them after the game and introduced them to Chris Tardif in one of the executive boxes, they put Tards through some easy and tough questions about his career and his time at Oxford and then got autographs, they liked what they saw at the club, they are used to watching Aussie Rules football, so they were nearly at home in talking to Tards-seeing he is the only one that can pick the ball up and kick it....Hope to see Sarah, Ian, Josh, Timmy and Billy Mallett at the Macc game, where hopefully they will get to see a U's win...

Chris Tardif, Ian, Josh, Timmy Mallett, Sarah and Billy Mallett and
lucky charm.

Oxford were cruelly denied another win today even after going 1-0 down in the first 12 SECONDS of the match to a Lee Steele goal, the defence were all at sea, so were most the fans and the press, though Steele put the ball away well from a tight angle.

Oxford got back into the game 16 minutes later through Steve Basham and then after the break Tommy Mooney put the U's in front, but late on the O's drew level with a badly deflected shot that broke the U's hearts, just before moons put the ball in the net for the lead the U's had a blatant claim for a penalty ruled out when the ref was close at hand too, a draw in this game would all but finish off any hopes of reaching the playoff's, the U's will now just have next season to look forward to now, whoever will be in charge, Radio and fans talk after the game was rife with rumours that Ramon Diaz and Horacio Rodriguez had gone and were not coming back, though talk in the club was that they were out of the Country with Family commitments, until you hear differently I would believe the last.

Penalty claim for handball just before Mooney put the U's in front against the O's.

Still no news from what happened at the end of the game on Friday at sCUNThorpe, the police went into the dressing room as we were in the tunnel after the game and said they were going to question the players and find out if they wanted to press charges and that was all we heard, the players were not very happy about it though.
Pictures from Friday are at this link

Saturday 26th March 2005
Oxford came away with a point from Glanford Park last night but it should have been all 3, right at the death sCUNThorpe snatched 2 points away when there was a lapse in the U's defence and after a knock on by Ex United defender Andy Crosby, Baraclough was waiting at the far post to slot home and break the U's hearts, this game was end to end and was 100% on the Entertainment Scale, sCUNThorpe had most of the play from the start, but then the U's got into the game and were on top when Tommy Mooney pounced to put the U's in the lead, that totally shocked Scunny and their fans, but at half time they were all talking about Mooney's great goal.
The Great game though was marred by a sCUNThorpe fan running onto the field to manhandle Chris Tardif, the fan was arrested and the Police were collecting statements after the game.

Wednesday 23rd March 2005

Oufc River Plate actually lost their match last night 6-2 after an administration cock up, it was first reported as 5-2, but someone who told me the final score couldn't have been watching the game, lol, I won't go into details of the game out of respect for the rest of the team and for fear of saying something about the opposition I might but WON'T regret.

Bad news for Jamie Brooks being out now for the rest of the season, Jamie had not featured recently and has gone into hospital for an operation on his Hip which he injured in the match against Brizzle Rovers at the Kassam Stadium, even bigger blow seeing that he was in the top 50 best players outside the Premiership  in a poll in the 4-4-2 Magazine recently for his fine work after coming back from his long lay off with Guillaine Barre Syndrome.
We all wish Jay a speedy recovery.

Oxford United will play Oxford City at the Kassam Stadium on April 19th in the Oxon Senior Cup, kick off 7.30pm, Executive Boxes will be 100 for 10 people ( With NO food or Drink in Boxes), Drinks only available at the Headington Bar, South Stand Lower Tickets are priced at 5 Adults and 2.50 Children and OAP's, it will be the first time that these two teams have met in the cup final for 57 years (1948), back then the U's won 1-0 when City were the superior team.

Monday 21st March 2005

Dave Woozley has joined Yeovil on a months loan after their Injury nightmare got worse the weekend, Already without Scott Guyett they will be without 2 more defenders so Woozley will be there probably until the end of the season.
Woozley has not been getting in the U's team and United don't have to play the Glovers so there will be no clashes, with Mateo Corbo, Jon Ashton and Leo Roget at the club the U's have cover, he will probably only be called back at the last resort.

Oxford have signed Amine Karam until the end of the season, the pacey French winger likes to play behind the strikers and has impressed in the 2 games he has played in the reserves, he will wear the number 35 shirt.

Sunday 20th March 2005

Pictures of yesterday's game were uploaded earlier, but due to a technical problem I was unable to put the link up, sorry for the delay.
Oxford vs Boston Pictures

Saturday 19th March 2005

Oxford had a great day in the sun today as they beat the Americans at the Kas Sam Stadium, 2 great goals from Steve Basham and a clean sheet from Chris Tardif helped the U's beat Boston and make it 5 teams on 50 points now in league 2 including Oxford and Boston.
Great team work, great passing and great control on the ball brought the U's all of the points to add more misery onto the shoulders of Pilgrims keeper and Ex United loanee Nathan Abbey, he had a torrid time in front of the U's fans in the 2nd half and was glad when the final whistle went.

After the game I met up with my Hero and all time Favourite United player Gary Briggs in Executive Box 28 as he was a guest of Friends of mine and he also unveiled the box in his name before the game, he enjoyed the game and the reception he got from the crowd before the match.

Myself and Gary Briggs

Friday 18th March 2005
Happy Birthday to Liam Fisher, hope you have had a great day and don't get too drunk tonight, Hope the U's finally get a win near your Birthday after many years of not getting one for you.

Tommy Mooney returns tomorrow to the forward line totally refreshed after his week off last week, Chris Hackett who played up front in his place will go back to his usual wide position and at 18-1 will be trying to get on the score sheet again.

Wednesday 16th March 2005

OUFC River Plate lost their first game of the season last night in a closely fought match that saw the lead change 4 times with Nationwide winning the match with 1 second to go
, 6-5 was the final score and now makes it 2 wins and a loss in the 3 games so far in the Wheatley League, So the Yellows must bounce back next week.

Oxford United beat Thame 5-2 in the Oxon Senior Cup at Court Place Farm last night, Goals from Davies, Wanless, Morgan and 2 from Raponi Cancelled out a mistake from Clarke in goal after 10 minutes, before Thame got another consolation before the end, The U's now face the winner of Oxford City vs Witney United in the Final next month.

Tuesday 15th March 2005

Sunday 13th March 2005

Oxford got back to winning ways yesterday at the expense of Scott McNiven's comeback game for Mansfield Town, McNiven was Captain for the game which was a lovely gesture, we saw him before the game and he told us he was playing, good to see him ok and playing again.
Goals from Steve Basham and Chris Hackett took us in at Half time 2-0 before Hackett added another to give the U's what looked like a 3-0 win, until late on when the U's gave away a needless Penalty, Tardif saved the kick and their player missed the gifted rebound by trying to score spectacularly, overhead kicking the ball wide, but the referee's assistant had adjudged Tards to have been 3 Yards off his line when the Penalty was taken, so made them retake it, they made no mistake from that one, but it was too late for a revival, the U's happy at the end, bit late for a run to the play off's though isn't it?
Great setup though at Mansfield, my Photographers Ticket had Mansfield vs Southend Utd on it, right date and time, but we beat em, honest.

Sorry Pictures Tomorrow,
I am now off to St James Park to see Newcastle vs Spurs.

Ok just one for you until Tomorrow, Tardif was trying to get up in this picture, but it looks like Ref Paul Danson has just socked him one...!

Saturday 12th March 2005

Oxford are without Tommy Mooney today at Mansfield, many reports are doing the rounds about why he isn't in the Squad, but the club say it is a tactical change, many Fans were unhappy with the way Moons had a go at Craig Davies last week for his performance when the boot was on the other foot...
Tom Winters has been added to the squad for today and may even start in a new look Oxford United, though there is no Mooney we won't be short of Bald heads after Comic Relief yesterday.

Thursday 10th March 2005
Mansfield Town will be under the reigns of Former Sheffield Wednesday player Carlton Palmer when the U's visit the Stags on Saturday, Oxford may recall Craig Davies to the starting line up after he scored in the week against Carterton in the Senior Cup, Paul Wanless will have cemented his place on the bench with his goal in that game too, All we will need in the game at Mansfield is Tommy Mooney to be using his head again, he ducked out of everything which needed his head against Grimsby last weekend which his stitched up bonce.
All I will be concerned with is the Weather, last season I was blown off my stool and couldn't even stand up the wind was that fierce, with the sand blowing into my eyes from the side of the pitch I was glad the game was abandoned at the interval, No Rain the weekend would be nice too.:-).

Wednesday 9th March 2005

Oufc are reportedly in Talks with Ramon Diaz and his associates about the possibility of them being here next season and even taking over the reigns of the Football club.

OUFC River Plate made it 2 wins in the first 2 league games last night by beating Lakers 5-2 in the Wheatley Five a side league, all the goals came from Sam Lydon, but the game was all about team work and the tactical rolling substitutions, We should have won by more, but will take any win that comes our way.

OUFC River Plate in Action last night at Wheatley

Oxford United made it to the Semi Final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup last night by beating Carterton Town 2-0 at Court Place Farm, Goals from Craig Davies and Paul Wanless saw the U's through to play Thame United in the Semi next Tuesday.

Tuesday 8th March 2005
OUFC cheated their way to victory last night in the Ox Vox Quiz at the Priory, The gang of 4 were in their seats ready to take on the other 5 teams which consisted of teams from Utd We Stand, Rage on, and 3 other teams, then in walked Oxford Manager Ramon Diaz, Translator Jean Marc Goiran and the Club Dr Rafael Giuliette just minutes before the Quiz began, they Joined Chris Williams, Ed Duckham and their 2 mates in their team to make the Quiz team which is a maximum of 4 into 7, yes a very big advantage over one team that only had 2 members, 3 with 3 members and 1 with 4 members Officially.......Then just to make it look even worse Ox Vox asked Ramon to pull out the first ticket for the Raffle during an interval, He picked his own ticket out!, Fair enough it wasn't his fault, then it was Jean Marc Goirans ticket pulled out.....but Utd We Stand did have a ticket pulled out near the end, I took home a nice breakfast hamper, but had to eat the Croissants straight away when I got home or they would have been out of date.......all joking aside we all had a great night and will be looking forward to the next one, hopefully with a few more teams to give us a chance.....

Oxford take on Carterton Town in the Quarter Final of the Oxfordshire senior cup tonight at Court Place Farm, kick off is at 7.30.

Though if you don't want to go and watch that match you could always take in OUFC River Plate vs Lakers in the 5 a side at Wheatley which is an 8pm kick off....lol
Results for both will appear here later.

Monday 7th March 2005
Quiz night at the Priory Tonight, United We Stand will have a team and will be pitting their wits against the Official site and many more teams, go along, kick off is 7.30pm,  1 for OxVox members, 2 for non members.

Oxford put in a 2nd half sleep-a-thon for Comic Relief as they gifted Grimsby all 3 points on Saturday, Lucas Cominelli scored his first goal for the U's on 34 minutes and things looked good for the win at the break, but just 40 seconds into the 2nd half they drew level, then the U's were robbed by what looked like a blatant off side decision for the winning goal, but the U's also had their chances and Tommy Mooney blew a golden chance wide of the post with minutes to go.
Now we travel to Mansfield to face Scott McNiven and his team mates, Carlton Palmer is in temporary charge, the U's will want to finish this game on the same day after the Windy problems last season.

Mooney tries to point the way, Click this link for more Pictures

Saturday 5th March 2005
Oxford entertain Grimsby Town at the Kassam Stadium today for the first time and will be hoping to add 3 points to the 1 point they took when they played at Cleethorpes last December, that was the Argentineans 1st away game in charge and now have to try and get the U's season back on track after a disastrous month in February, Awesome in January, Awful in February Now lets be Awesome again in March and fail to win the Manager of the Month award for the rest of the season.
Matt Robinson and Mateo Corbo will again be Available to play after missing out at Cambridge last week, Lee Bradbury will not play after notching up 5 yellow cards, Juan Pablo Raponi will play in the middle and will finally get to show the U's fans at the Kassam Stadium what he can really do.

Terry Parker has gone on  loan to the end of the season at Conference League Farnborough Town after failing to push his way into the starting line up since the arrival of Ramon Diaz and Co, he made the bench last weekend at Cambridge, but failed to get on.

Wednesday 2nd March 2005
Oxford's match in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup match tonight has been Postponed because of a Waterlogged pitch.

OUFC River Plate played their first League game in the Wheatley 5 a sides last night and Showed Great Bouncebackability to come from 3-0 Down to win 9-6 against Neeisy's Boys, with this being the 3rd week of the league River Plate finally got to play a match after the first week bye and the being postponed because of Snow the second week, but goals from Sam Lydon (6), Jason Edens (2) and Graham Butler saw Plate to victory after some stern defending and and great team work late on, Next Tuesday can't come soon enough.
