I spoke to Sam Stockley yesterday after the game as we got on very well
when he was at the Kassam Stadium, especially as most of his time was spent
up in the stands.
he was happy to see so many friendly faces, He is Still friends with a lot
of the Oxford players and was glad that Colchester played us in the cup,
well he would be after they had beaten us, but one thing is for sure, the
Text message saga was something of nothing, just bad timing and was
forgotten about very quickly.
As yesterday's picture shows, Woody and Sam embraced at the end to put
paid to
the rumour mongers that they had fallen out over the text message.

Well another year of cup runs are over, now Oxford can concentrate on
the league After the real U's lost to the the Essex U's 1-0 in the 1st round of the FA
Cup as
Sam Stockley's Col U scored the only goal in the first half.
Oxford could not get a reply, but then again we never really looked like
threatening
their keeper.

Tomorrow the U's take on the U's, then next Saturday the U's again take
on the U's...!!
ConfUsed, Colchester and Cambridge are both called the U's, but we know
who the
real and Best U's are, they are the ones that are going to win at Layer
Road tomorrow
Oxford United, read it and weep Sam Stockley.
Oxford United Youth team lost 6-1 to a very strong Stevenage Borough
youth
team last night at Court Place Farm, The U's were 4-0 down at half time and
to be honest it could have been a lot worse, Stevenage got 3 of their
goals in quick
succession after taking the lead from a bullet of a header.....
On average though the Oxford Boys were nearly 2 years a lad younger than
them,
They did gain a bit of experience from this and the Fireworks around the
ground were superb.

Oxford could be without Steve Basham tomorrow at Layer Road, Bash's Leg and
foot are still pretty sore and bashed up, he is rated doubtful, but you
never know he might make an appearance, He got the injury whilst playing
against Darlington last weekend
and is not the only injury doubt, Danny Brown is a worry too, he
was/is set to replace
the suspended Matt Robinson, but that could be all changed.
The U's finally got their ticket allocation yesterday, but fans are
still urged to buy them
at Layer Road on the day

Southend are trying to pinch Ian Atkins from Oxford United as the Essex
club are
without a manager, Atkins who is out of contract at the end of the season
would be
mad to take up the post, but has a past with that area as he started his
managerial
career at Colchester to whom Oxford play in the FA Cup this Saturday.
Oxford United Youth Take on Stevenage Borough in the Youth FA Cup

days.....................

Late last night I spoke to my match reporter Laurence Reade,
He was in New York City running the Marathon, He was keeping me up to date
with Text messages all afternoon and evening, So at approximately 11pm I
thought I would give him a call, luckily for him He had just crossed the
finish
line in a time of 7 hours and 46 Minutes, So Congratulations to
Loz and Fiona
who was running the 26 Mile jaunt with him, you deserve the medal you
got for
your efforts, even though you passed a bloke with no legs at the
halfway point
when you were on Pulowski Bridge, taking in the view of the Empire State
Building!!!!
And you were also passed by P Diddy and his 20 minders, but never mind
we are
all proud of you and we know that should you make it back for the
Colchester
game on Saturday you will be having a seat and not standing on the
terraces.
Here is the mini report
2.30pm UK time, Just seen P Diddy and his 20 minders pass me
4.20pm, just reached the 4 mile mark, Downtown Brooklyn-Knackered
already.
5.50pm, 10 miles gone, Now in Queens, the Jewish area, being well
supported.
6.46pm, half way there, though halfway not aswell....on Pulowski Bridge
admiring
the view of the Empire State Building, thought he had thrown his phone in
the water
as he never text back, either that or he had given up, but he finished
and well done.
Goalkeeper replica shirts
Oxford should have the goal keeper shirts in today that should have
arrived on
Friday, they are the Green top that Woody has been wearing and the New
ORANGE!!! keepers top, I saw it in the kit room and it looks like it
could scare a
few strikers, So perhaps they should take it down to the Post office and try
it on them.

Thankfully the U's found their form in the 2nd half yesterday after
going in at
half time 1-0 down after McGurk scored for Darlington.
Superb sub Mark Rawle got the U's equalizer after good work by Man of
the
Match Dean Whitehead, He scooped the ball across to Rawle who was waiting
inside the 6 yard box to slot into an empty net, from then on it looked
like the
U's were going to run riot-and they did when the U's won a free kick
outside
the area as Chrissy Hackett was brought down, Super Deano rounded the
wall with his usual technique and the U's were in the lead, by then the U's
were
playing against 10 men after Darlington's Mellanby was sent off for lumping
Woody one just inside the keepers area, that was not the end of it as they
then
had their goal scorer McGurk sent off too and finished the game with 9
players.
Then just to round off a great fight back at the end Paul Wanless got a 3rd
and the U's crowd went from disappointment in the 1st to delirium in the
2nd,
But there was better news at the final whistle as Macclesfield had got an
equalizer on 90 minutes at Hull to make it 2-2, so we are only 2 points from
them now, level with Doncaster on 34 points, yesterday was the first time
that
my wife and son had been up with me to the Kassam and they enjoyed it very
much, So a good day was had by all.

Bradley with Andy Woodman
Bradley with Ian Atkins
Both Ian Atkins and Andy Woodman are looking forward to the Game at
Colchester next Saturday, Atkins especially, That was his first managerial
job and He said "it has the makings of a classic FC Cup encounter",
obviously
He wants to win the game, but his main priority is the league, but the
cup is
the cup and no mater what division you are in the underdogs will always
put
up a fight, But Oxford should still win the game...hahaha.
Atkins is looking forward to seeing some old acquaintances and I am
looking
forward to the game as it will be my first time there taking photo's for the
U's,
The real U's that is.......OXFORD, not the Col U's.
