What a day yesterday, Oxford maintained their Top of the table status with a 2-1 win at Rochdale with Steve Basham and Julian Alsop getting the goals, They played some great football and should have scored more, but in the end hung on when Rochdale tried in vein to storm back, All the players played well so voting for the man of the match will be hard, one thing that wont be hard though is routing out all the people who call themselves Oxford United supporters and then drag their good name into the gutter after such a good win, those the club can do without and will currently be doing all to rid them out.
Oxfords win was their first ever at Spotland and should be their last for a long time Hopefully, Not that it isn't a nice place, all the staff were great, but we definitely don't want to be going back there for a while, unless they are in Division 2, which is unlikely, just 2,282 in the crowd with app 400 of them being U's fans, the U's fans made the atmosphere at the game, the Rochdale seats and terracing was almost empty at the final whistle, as I walked across the pitch after the final whistle the only stand with anyone in was the Away section, though they soon filtered out and were heard singing outside the ground from the press box area for quite a while, then they all dispersed home, most ARRIVING home at 9pm.....

Oxford showed what strength they have in their squad yesterday too, Dave Waterman, Paul McCarthy and Danny Brown came in to replace the Injured Scott McNiven, Suspended James Hunt and the late withdrawal of Matt Bound and did a great job,
but the best addition to the squad yesterday was a certain Lee Steele, he sat on the bench as a spectator only, but it is good to see him back on the field warming up with the players before the game.

Ex Oxford United gangly striker Kevin Francis is currently training with Redditch United after he was rumoured to have retired, we wish bambie on ice all the luck at his new club....

Firoz Kassam opens the New Bowlplex Bowling Alley next Friday night (Dec 5th) with special guest Lisa Scott Lee and boy band Phixx opening the centre, should be a crowd puller.

Oxford are going to offer Dean Whitehead a new 2 year contract, that is no more than he deserves after his fine displays this season, His current contract runs out at the end of this season and with a host of clubs eying up his talents they need to make sure he will stay long term at the club, Forest, Wigan and Watford among others have been sniffing around the club, but Deano doesn't want to go anywhere, apart from to Division 2 with Oxford next season.

Oxford Reserves came away from Bournemouth with a 1-1 draw Yesterday thanks to a Jefferson Louis goal, Oxford had quite and experienced team out, but Dave Waterman and Chris Hackett were spared in case they were needed to replace Scott McNiven at Rochdale.

Southend are still confident they will get their man for the Vacant managers job at Roots Hall, Even though the club have refused them speaking to Ian Atkins, they are determined to get their man, they are going to try again for a 2nd time, they will get the same response, but then they will probably just keep trying until.....ooops....they are relegated.

Nice to see that the Scumdon players live up to their reputation, Sami Igoe
Cut his plaster cast off of his arm himself to save going to Hospital and give his self a chance of a quick return to the team, only to find that when he cut it off he was in so much pain that he had to go to hospital and have it refitted, meaning him being out for another 6 weeks, The manager was livid with him and has brought embarrassment to the team, didn't need too anything to do that.........................
